Recreating RSS and Sitemap pages

Sep 30, 2009 at 1:07 PM

I've managed to delete the RSS and sitemap pages from my site running the CWS.

How can I recreate these?

Hi Dunc85,
Are you using the latest version of CWS as these two pages don't exist as nodes in the content section but instead are called from the template alias.

Hi,

thanks for your quick reply.

Yes I'm running the latest version. I could've sworn I'd seen them in the content section.

Any ideas on what else could be wrong? Going to the RSS page gives a 404 error (http://ft.mhsc.nhs.uk/RSS.aspx)

I'm not at my computer so I can't tell you the template alias.

So your URL should be like this:

You can check the template alias by going into the settings section then the templates section. Select the rss template and see the alias.

Hope this makes sense.

Yes that's great.

Thanks.

I have tried the above, but I'm still not able to get the files to show up as cws_rss.aspx - I just continue to get 404 error. I have the same problem with the cws_xml-sitemap.

I don't understand this, as I have a different website on the same server, where it works fine! Is there any setting where this could have been disabled?

Hello Erik.

  • Does any of the pages load from Umbraco (home, news gallery etc...)?
  • Does the Umbraco admin work all as expected?
  • Have you checked the settings setcion and expanded the templates folder to check that a RSS template exists
    • If it does exist check the alias of the template
      • Goto your site url and add /templateAliasofRSSTemplate.aspx
    • If it does not exist
      • Create a new template/masterpage through the umbraco admin
      • Use this following code in your template - http://umbracocws.codeplex.com/SourceControl/changeset/view/24171#59104

Hopefully this should help you, if you have any problems or more questions let me know please.

Thanks,
Warren
